Margaret Thatcher said, “If you want something said, ask a man; if you want something done, ask a woman.”
In the same spirit, Diane Mariechild said, “A woman is the full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform.”
Here at TMSC, we believe these quotes to be true, and so we founded a cow program to help empower widows and single mothers. The project is a practical solution, providing nutrition to the malnourished and income through sale of at least 3 liters of milk daily. The income from the sale of milk supplements household needs and allows them to save money to pay high school fees for their children in the future. This project has been extended to poor families and it has given us and our volunteers an opportunity to work with community members. The project has been extremely successful and more than 20 families have received a cow. Four families have already started paying their children’s fees out of the milk proceeds. Our goal is to reach out to more than 100 families, to get involved you can buy a cow to your sponsored child, a widow or a poor family. With $400 you will empower a family and give a brighter future to their needy children forever!
A part from the cow project, we are also encouraging horticultural and poultry farming. Many women are now engaged in these projects and they have started harvesting enough for their families.
