Mentorship & Career Development
This program is run three times every year during school holidays and it brings all the primary students and the Tumaini alumni together. The main objective is to refine the students with knowledge, skills and positive values that can help them realize their dreams in life. This also gives the Tumaini alumni an opportunity to speak to the respective students and help them with matters pertaining career development. The presence of the Tumaini alumni has been special as this encourages others to work hard and set role models. We invite speakers from different career fields and pastors for the program. Most of the orphans and children from poor families have changed through this program because they have realized that education can change their lives. Seeing those who have been attending Tumaini school completing their university education and leading a different life has been a motivation of high caliber. This program has helps the by:
- Enabling targeted children to discover their career potentials in specific talents and opportunities to strengthen the same for future livelihood.
- Building self-esteem and confidence among the destitute children under rehabilitation.
- Participation in creative arts including dance and music performances serves as therapy for children who have come from difficult and abusive backgrounds.
- Complementing formal education and general rehabilitation as co-curricular activities for physical and emotional health.
Through this program we have seen a big difference in the lives of the needy students including good academic performance, improvement in personality, good morals and Godly life. Our Alumni have progressed well and we don’t have school dropout cases which has resulted from the said program. We wish to partner with individuals and organisataions to help us cater for this program. $30 per semester will help us feed and accommodate one student for a week.
Tumaini is an organization focusing on the disadvantaged in the community and heartbeat is to change our community for a better future. Tumaini Miles of Smiles activities revolve around caring for the orphaned and vulnerable children, provision of quality education and skills, community empowerment, free medical programs and nurturing talents among the youths.
Tumaini is a Swahili word for ‘HOPE’, Sponsor a child today and help break poverty cycle and bring hope to children, widows and families leaving a mark that will never be forgotten
This campaign targets spiritual needs in addition to physical needs. Over 300 Bibles have been given to Tumaini students, staff and guadians and the community around.
